Electric Vehicle Home Charger Package
- The EV Home Charger Package is no longer available for new installations. These Terms and Conditions apply exclusively to customers who previously purchased the EV Home Charger Package, whose charger was installed by NB Power, and where the charger remains installed and in use.
- The electric vehicle home charger (the “Equipment”) remains subject to the terms of the original Purchase Agreement entered into between the customer and NB Power.
- Customers who did not enrol in the Repair and Replacement Plan are covered by a standard one-year warranty on installation (labour and materials) and a three-year manufacturer warranty on the EV charger.
- The three-year manufacturer warranty is not transferable and applies only to the original buyer/owner, in accordance with the manufacturer’s terms and conditions.
- During the first year following installation, NB Power will coordinate applicable warranty support on behalf of the customer. After the first year, the customer is responsible for managing manufacturer warranty claims directly or may request service from NB Power at a rate of $99.00 per hour (price subject to change), plus materials.
- If the Repair and Replacement Plan was selected at the time of installation, the cost of the Plan is not included in the defined monthly installment(s) and continues as a regular, recurring charge on the customer’s NB Power bill, subject to the original terms of the Plan.
- If the Repair and Replacement Plan was not selected at time of installation, and following the expiration of the one-year installation warranty, all vendor-specific warranty registration requirements, warranty claims, and related matters are the responsibility of the customer and must be addressed directly with the EV charger manufacturer.
- NB Power reserves the right to make changes or corrections to service rates applicable to post-installation service requests, including hourly labour rates and material costs.
- No new EV Home Charger installations will be provided under this offering. All installation-related services were completed at the time of the original Purchase Agreement.
- NB Power does not assume responsibility for upgrades, repairs, or replacements to customer-owned electrical equipment, including electrical panels, beyond the scope of the original installation and applicable warranties or service agreements.
- NB Power is not responsible for any interruption to electric service that may occur as a result of customer-initiated maintenance, repairs, modifications, or third-party work related to the Equipment.
- The customer understands and agrees that NB Power may require reasonable access to the Equipment to honour applicable warranties, the Repair and Replacement Plan (if applicable), or customer service requests.
- Should the customer discontinue electric service or fail to meet payment obligations associated with the original Purchase Agreement or the Repair and Replacement Plan, any unpaid charges shall immediately become due and payable.
- Upon termination of this agreement for any reason, including failure by the customer to make any payment when due or to comply with these Terms and Conditions, NB Power retains the right to pursue any legal remedies available, including collection of outstanding balances, late fees, and interest on unpaid amounts.
- NB Power assumes no risk and is not liable for damages of any nature arising from the use of the Equipment, including but not limited to equipment malfunction, acts of God, customer negligence, or circumstances beyond the control of NB Power.
- The customer agrees to indemnify and hold harmless NB Power, its employees, agents, contractors, and representatives from any injury, loss, or damage to persons or property (including the Equipment) arising out of or related to the customer’s use or operation of the Equipment.
- Where more than one individual is identified as a customer under the original agreement, each such individual is jointly and severally liable for the obligations of the customer.
- The Equipment remains the property of the customer once all charges under the EV Home Charger Package have been paid in full.
- NB Power respects customer privacy and protects personal information obtained in connection with the EV Home Charger Package in accordance with the New Brunswick Right to Information and Protection of Privacy Act, S.N.B. 2009, c. R-10.6. Personal information may be collected, used, and disclosed for purposes related to customer service, warranty support, repair services, and account administration associated with the EV Home Charger Package.
Repair and Replacement Plan
The Repair and Replacement Plan is no longer available for new enrolments. The information below applies only to customers who previously enrolled in the Plan in connection with an EV Home Charger installed by NB Power and where the charger remains installed and in use.
Plan overview
- The Repair and Replacement Plan is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis at a rate of $4.99 per month.
- The monthly rate is fixed at the time of enrolment for each customer.
- Customers who enrolled at the time of installation received the first year of coverage at no cost.
- The Plan continues on a month-to-month basis, to a maximum coverage period of 10 years, provided the customer remains enrolled and the account is in good standing.
What the Plan covers
The Repair and Replacement Plan provides coverage for repairs or replacement of the EV charger and eligible installation components.
Covered repairs or replacements will be completed using materials or equipment that are identical in nature, or that have equivalent or greater capabilities, as determined by NB Power.
What the Plan does not cover
The Repair and Replacement Plan does not cover:
- Product misuse, abuse, or alteration, including disassembly or modification
- Cosmetic damage, including scratches, dents, or normal aging
- Damage resulting from extreme power surges, extreme electromagnetic fields, or acts of nature
- Normal wear and tear of the charging cable
- Electrical upgrades or other work completed at the time of installation that falls outside the scope of the Plan
Location and transferability
The Repair and Replacement Plan applies only at the original installation location. If the home is sold along with the EV charger, Plan enrolment may be transferred to the new home (account) owner, upon request and subject to eligibility conditions.
Plan changes and cancellation
NB Power reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel the Repair and Replacement Plan with reasonable notice to the customer. Customers may cancel their enrolment at any time in accordance with the original terms of the Plan.
If you are not enrolled in the Plan
Customers who did not enrol in the Repair and Replacement Plan are covered by:
- A one-year installation warranty (labour and materials) provided by the electrical contractor
- A three-year manufacturer warranty on the EV charger
